'Tis The Night Before Launching (2)

'Tis the night before launching and all through this house,
There is wond'ring and wond'ring by my lovely spouse.

The bike is still spattered from road residue
That damaged the slickness when eastward I flew.

I've run through the checklist again and again,
Adding the items I should have known when

I loaded the bike for the first eastward flight,
'Til I'm positive now I must have it right.

Jake is here now quite warm and quite dry,
And Don will arrive before birds start to fly.

Adventures still call and we're ready to go.
We won't listen to anyone try to say no.

We are Texans, you know, so tough and so rare.
And like Texans, you know, we will always be there.

So, we launch in the morning when dawn's early light
Meets the lingering remnants of previous night.

And I reckon we'll wonder as miles peel away,
How lucky we are to have captured the day.

And we won't look behind, we'll just ride to the west,
And send to y'all the most of our best.

It's time to hit the road (2).
